What the six steps mean

Fetching your page Checking crawler access Analyzing page structure Reading metadata Scoring content Building your report
The six progress steps every scan runs through.

Each step gets a checkmark as it completes, with a progress bar underneath. If the scan pauses on a step, it's still working — some pages are slow to respond.

When to wait, when to re-run

  • Under two minutes: wait. Large or slow pages can take a little longer.
  • Stuck on "Fetching your page": your site may be blocking automated visits, or it may be down. Try opening the URL in your own browser first.
  • Stuck past five minutes: something went wrong. Re-run the scan — you won't be charged twice for a scan that never produced a report.
  • "Failed" status: the scan couldn't complete. Common causes: the site blocks bots, the URL is wrong, or the server timed out. Fix the cause and try again.
Heads up

If your site deliberately blocks all bots, the scan can't do its job — that's also what the crawler-access check is telling you. AI assistants will be blocked the same way.

Still failing?

Check that the URL is typed correctly (including https://), then try again. If it keeps failing, contact us with the URL and the time it failed.
